Upholding
a tradition of musical excellence for over 175 years
Dear Friends of St Francis’ Choir,
What a joy it has been for the choir to return to singing Mass in the church on a regular basis after all the challenges of the last two years! We hope and pray that 2022 will bring us closer to ‘normal’ and that you will be able to join us in person on Sundays for the 11.30am Mass and for other special celebrations.
You can find our music list for February - June 2022
here, including details of music for the Holy Week and Easter ceremonies.
The choir joins with me in wishing you every blessing and we thank you most sincerely for your ongoing support.
We look forward to a wonderful year of uplifting liturgical music.
Best wishes,
Tony Way

St Francis' Choir sings
at the historic St Francis' Church in Melbourne,
Australia, on the corner of Lonsdale and Elizabeth
Streets. The choir sings at the 11.30am Sunday Eucharist.
The choir sings a range of Masses and motets, sometimes
accompanied by the Symphonia of Melbourne or Canzona
Brass, and with eminent soloists. While the great Masses
of such composers as Haydn, Schubert, Gounod and Mozart
are in the Choir’s repertoire, the choir also sings the
works of modern composers, including Australian composers.
We hope that St Francis’
is a place where people from all walks of life will feel
welcome and draw from the liturgy and its music a sense of
the closeness and otherness of God. The great heritage of
church music, has something wonderful to say to the human
spirit, something words alone cannot say.
